オリンピック国際理解教育推進プロジェクト発足（日本側代表：恒吉僚子　平成29年8月〜平成31年8月）

米国コロラド大学ボールダー校の東アジア教育プログラム（TEA）と東京大学教育学研究科附属学校教育高度化・効果検証センター（CASEER）は、2020年の東京オリンピック・パラリンピック教育の「世界ともだちプロジェクト」の推進を支援し、教師の能力開発、日米の小学校間における国際交流、国際理解を深めることを目的とした2年間のパートナーシップ「オリンピック国際理解教育推進プロジェクト」を結びました（助成団体：国際交流基金日米センター）。TEA（Program for Teaching East Asia）は、アメリカにおいて、日本理解を一つの焦点にして各地のアメリカの小学校の教員に研修プログラムを提供している数少ないセンターの一つです。

日本側であるCASEERグローバル部門の本プロジェクトのコーディネーターは特任准教授の越智豊（前東大附属副校長、英語科）、学術支援職員高津紫乃、アメリカ側はコロラド大学ボールダー校の主任教授Catherine Higbee Ishida先生で、日本の5つの小学校とアメリカの６つの小学校でペアを作り、交流を進めています。今年6月にはアメリカの小学校の先生方12名の視察団が来日し、日本の小学校を訪問し、パートナー校で授業をしました。

Olympic Friendships: Elementary Education for Global Competency in Japan and the United States (August2017-August 2019 Japanese Representative: Ryoko Tsuneyoshi)

The program for Teaching East Asia(TEA) at the University of Colorado established a partnership with Center for Advanced School Education and Evidence-Based, Research in Graduate School of Education at The University of Tokyo(CASEER) for a two-year project “Olympic Friendships: Elementary Education for Global Competency in Japan and United States” funded by the Japan Foundation, Center for Global Partnership. This project supports the 2020 Tokyo Olympic/Paralympic Games “Global Friendship Project” and promotes the professional development of teachers, and students’ global understanding through international exchange. TEA is among the few international education center that provides training programs to elementary school teachers in the U.S., focusing especially on Japan.

The Japanese coordinator of this project is Yutaka Ochi, Associate Professor of the Center, Shino Takatsu, Project Academic Support Staff and American coordinator is Catherine Higbee Ishida, Senior Staff Associate of TEA. Five Japanese elementary schools in Tokyo were matched with a partner elementary school of six American elementary schools and they are deepening exchanges. In June 2018, 12 American teachers came to Tokyo to visit and teach lessons at their partner schools.
